Private Art and Architecture Tour of Boston Public Library

Did you know that the Boston Public Library's McKim Building is a National Historic Landmark? This one-hour private tour will feature the work of architect Charles Follen McKim and the murals of John Singer Sargent, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes and Edwin Austin Abbey.

MFA Women's Takeover

Come explore the seven-gallery ""takeover"" of art by women at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Aiming to shine a light on talented women artists, the entire third floor of MFA's Art of Americas Wing showcases ~200 artworks made by women over the last 100 years.

WCAB Night at the Pops with special Photo Opportunity

First, Wellesley's own Astronaut, Pamela Melroy '83 will be joining the orchestra to narrate a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, and in the second half singer and actress Jane Lynch (Glee, Mrs. Maisel) sings her favorites from the American Songbook with comedy thrown in.

You are invited to join an open discussion at the home of Quiana Agbai '02 in Hyde Park. Quiana is a member of the Wellesley Racial Justice Initiative and will be facilitating the discussion exploring the most pressing issues of our time: where do I fit in the “story of race” personally, socially and politically? 

MFA Tour - Art of Europe: The Seeds of Change

From religious commissioned art and Academy hierarchies to Impressionism, there were seismic changes in European art. We will choose examples of paintings and sculptures from the 12th through the 20th Century to give you a sense of how these movements impacted artists, techniques and history.

WCAB at the Wilson Lecture

Wellesley welcomes award-winning journalist and best-selling author Jane Mayer to campus on March 19, 2019, to deliver this year’s Wilson Lecture. This annual event brings internationally prominent speakers to campus to explore the issues of the day. Mayer will speak on the topic “Fake News and Alternative Facts: The War on Truth,” before answering questions from the audience.

In 1899 Jeremy, a young engineer, leaves a small town in Maine to oversee the construction of a railroad across East Africa. In charge of hundreds of Indian laborers, he soon finds himself the reluctant hunter of two lions that are killing his men in almost nightly attacks on their camp.

Novelist Zadie Smith was born in North London in 1975 to an English father and a Jamaican mother. She read English at Cambridge, graduating in 1997. Her acclaimed first novel, White Teeth (2000) won a number of awards and prizes, including the Guardian First Book Award and the Whitbread First Novel Award.
