40s and 50s Decades - Book Discussion on Citizens of London
Location: Vi at the Glen, 2500 Indigo Lane, Glenview 60026
Date: November 1, 2017
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Class of 40s and 50s, come join us for a book discussion, led by Nancy Phair '55, on Citizens of London, by Lynne Olson. Citizens of London is the engrossing behind-the-scenes story of how the United States and Britain forged their crucial wartime alliance, as seen from the viewpoint of three key American players in London. Drawing from a wide variety of primary sources, Olson depicts the personal journeys of these men, who, determined to save Britain from Hitler, helped convince a cautious Franklin Roosevelt and reluctant American public to back the British at a critical time.
We will begin at 9:30 am with refreshments and the book discussion at 10:00 a.m. Cost is $8.00 per person, please make checks payable to the Chicago Wellesley Club and send your checks to reserve your spot to Anne Martin, '58, Glencoe (address made available via e-Newsletter). If you have any questions, please call (847) 835-1958.
Please note there is complimentary valet parking at Vi at the Glen, and public transportation to Glenview via the Metra.
