CWC Book Club: The Lowland, by Jhumpa Lahiri

CWC Book Club: The Lowland, by Jhumpa Lahiri

Date:  Saturday, September 7, 2019

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Location: Highland Park, Illinois

After our summer hiatus we will meet to discuss The Lowland, by Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri. Set in Calcutta and America in the late 1960's, the book is a powerful depiction of a family torn apart by politics and tragedy. Our discussion will be moderated by Pat Anderson '79, at the home of Judy Perlman '62 in Highland Park (full address provided in the CWC August e-newsletter). RSVP to bookclub@chicagowellesleyclub.org.

Note: We will be making our reading list for the year at this meeting, so come with your selections and be ready to "sell" them to the group. We welcome all types of books, but thought it might be interesting to include a few titles by women Nobel Laureates, Chicago authors, and Wellesley writers. We try to select books under 300 pages as much as possible, so that everyone can finish them within a month.
