Years ago, when he was in high school, my younger son had to take an art class. He took pottery, and told me that his teacher was planning an evening class for adults. So I checked it out and joined and got hooked completely. I loved it, although I certainly was not immediately very good. My teacher suggested a pottery studio here for year round classes, and after a couple of years elsewhere, I started at Hinckley Pottery, where I still go. We moved to a new location, on Blues Alley in Georgetown, several years ago.
We are part of a great community of teachers and students of all ages in a very good studio. Almost 20 years ago, a friend and I started having a show/sale every November at her home. We ask a few other potters to join us and have a good time and sell lots of pots! Our work has improved and we have many repeat customers. It has been very rewarding as an adult, to learn something completely new as well as to make new friends.
Most recently, Polly has been producing pottery to be sold at the upcoming Annual pottery and card Holiday sale on Nov. 12th. She is quite proud of being "the oldest" participant!
editor's note: GO Polly!!!!
