Our Class Meeting

Turns out the original flamingo was created in 1957 by a resident of Fitchburg, MA, a manufacturing center for plastics in general and pink flamingos in particular. Now the Fitchburg Art Museum is hosting an exhibit, Plastic Imagination, which explores the work of 10 contemporary New England artists who create extraordinary things with all kinds of plastic.

We've arranged for a special tour of the exhibit for the Class of '66.

Details:

  • Date:  Wednesday, January 11
  • Time:  10:30 am
  • Address:  185 Elm Street, Fitchburg - check the website for directions - fitchburgartmuseum.org
  • The tour will be about one hour and we're arranging lunch in a Fitchburg restaurant to follow.

Please RSVP by Friday, January 6 so that we can confirm arrangements.
Thanks to our classmate, Jean Borgatti, who is a consultant curator at the Fitchburg Museum, the guided tour is offered to us for no extra fee - and the museum director is hoping to join us as well.  Entrance to the museum itself is $5.00 for seniors.  Lunch, if you join us, will be additional.  You can, of course, continue your museum visit and you might especially enjoy the exhibit Jean curated:  Global Africa: Creativity, Continuity and Change in African Art.
