Ellen's talk described her journey as a poet, from childhood in New York, to Wellesley, to studying in England, then living the past 40+ years in Canada. She talked about the inter-connection between personal and political poetry, and described her work teaching creative writing in elementary and high schools (including schools on two Indigenous reserves) and to community groups including seniors, people with eating disorders, and people with mental health challenges. Ellen will share a few poems to illustrate the talk. Her most recent book is The Day I Saw Willie Mays and Other Poems.
