You all have been receiving emails from Wellesley describing what they are doing in response to the current pandemic. I know you are as impressed as I am! Fortunately, we have a substantial endowment AND an administration that cares deeply for our students and is making good decisions – and personal sacrifices – on their behalf.
Wellesley is receiving funding from the federal CARES Act to assist students eligible for federal Title IV financial aid with expenses. The Wellesley Students’ Aid Society has helped to cover additional emergency expenses.
Here is how we can help! At the start of the crisis, Wellesley set up an emergency fund for students, funded by alumnae donations. The college immediately used funds raised to cover the cost of some students’ travel as well as packing and moving expenses. The balance will continue to be used to help students, including those who have stayed on campus this spring and need financial support either to travel home or to find alternative housing this summer.
If you have not already done so, please follow this link to learn all that is being done and to join the campaign to support Wellesley in this time of greatest need: Together for Wellesley.
Please note that gifts to The Wellesley Fund through June 30 will be doubled thanks to a $387,000 matching challenge from several generous Wellesley alumnae!
