Virtual Visit to New Orleans, October 17, 2020, 8 pm Eastern!

French Quarter courtyards, Garden District mansions, above-ground tombs, Mardi Gras beads, second lines, Dixieland jazz, live oak trees, Spanish moss, the Hurricane, St. Louis Cathedral, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu coconuts, Voodoo . . .

We were supposed to be in NOLA together the weekend of October 17 and 18, soaking up the music, architecture, and Carnival traditions that make her special. Sigh . . .

Instead, let’s get together virtually on Zoom starting at 8 pm EDT! (See below for more info.) And in keeping with the New Orleans theme, feel free to bring along a dish or cocktail that represents NOLA’s culinary distinctiveness.

Google (what would we do without it?!) the Internet for a recipe that appeals to you; keywords could include "NOLA," "Louisiana," "Creole," or "Cajun."

My new favorite New Orleans cookbook is Creole Feast: Fifteen Master Chefs of New Orleans Reveal Their Secrets (https://www.amazon.com/Creole-Feast-Fifteen-Orleans-Secrets/dp/160801150X), published in 1979 by New Orleanian and civil rights activist Rudy Lombard, a co-founder of the congress of racial equality or CORE. He had the wisdom to capture bios and recipes of black chefs in the volume, re-released recently by his brother. Check out the table of contents online (use the "look inside" feature on Amazon) and if you let me know your choices, I'll scan and email the recipes to you!

Atlanta, GA, Mini-Reunion April 9-11, 2021

We are so fortunate to have hosts who are also local directors and docents of Atlanta’s finest organizations, and they will take us behind the scenes with decision makers, founders, and CEOs . . . plus we will eat, drink, and relax together.
