Sunday, April 10, 2022 In honor of Earth Day, Sherry Zitter encouraged attendees to star in own own homes when looking for ways to care for our planet by moving closer to a sustainable lifestyle. In a very collaborative session she showed us how to find ways to repurpose tired or torn textiles and create unique homemade gifts from the heart, or repair clothes to be both appealing and functional by using what you already have on hand. Sherry encouraged folks to watch and learn, or bring fabric scraps we enjoy, along with needle, thread, and some scissors to work on a project. As a result classmates shared projects they were working on as well as things they have completed in the past. Sherry has been embroidering unique gifts for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs and other special occasions, as well as mending favorite clothes with distinctive scraps, since she was in high school. She has not met a piece of clothing she cannot repurpose beautifully, or an occasion where an embroidered gift is not a hit. |
