For the third year in a row, the Class of 1980 has an Alumnae Achievement Award recipient. Mara Prentiss ’80, physicist and environmental revolutionary, is the recipient of a 2022 Alumnae Achievement Award — very exciting and well-deserved!
Mara and the other recipients, Lulu Chow Wang ’66 and Laura Wheeler Murphy ’76, were honored in a ceremony at Alumnae Hall on October 14, 2022 — back to being in person made this extra-exciting! Watch the replay.
Mara is a physics professor at Harvard and also runs the Prentiss Research Lab, focusing on DNA and the principles of self-assembly, specifically proteins that play a role in DNA recombination and repair. She applies science to energy conservation and made one of the first calculations proving that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is airborne.
