Reunion Dates: May 22-24, 2026

August 2025 Newsletter

This fall we will kick our reunion planning into high gear. First and foremost, please mark your calendar for our reunion: MAY 22-24, 2026. That is also Memorial Day weekend, which we know makes travel costs high, so please start planning your travel now! As soon as we have more information about reserving a room on campus and registering for reunion, we’ll let you know. Watch this space. In the meantime, we need more hands to go up to volunteer to help us make this reunion the best one yet. The format has changed since our 15th and for the better. The responsibilities for volunteers are much lighter and more focused on class community building and socializing. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please send your class officers an email. If you have any questions about what kind of help we’re looking for, please ask away and we’ll answer your questions by email or on a call, happily!

Each month leading up to reunion, we will be sharing some thoughts about how to make plans and prepare for reunion. This first topic comes from a discussion that arose in our Facebook group. (Please note that anything of substance about reunion that is on Facebook will also be posted in this newsletter and/or on our class website).

Preparing for Reunion: Where to stay?

Insights from Watertown, MA, resident and newsletter editor Alex Somers Lahr

There are a variety of reasons why you may need to or want to stay off-campus for reunion. But where should you stay? Keep in mind that MIT and Harvard graduations are the week leading into our reunion, so options may be limited or hella expensive the closer you get to Cambridge. Some areas to consider for a slightly better priced option are Waltham, Framingham, Natick, and Needham. Those locations all have a major highway going through them which make it easy to get to Wellesley.

As of writing this newsletter, a search on Booking.com for a room in Wellesley, MA, for 2 adults and 2 children yielded pricey results, the lowest of which being $374/night for a 1 bedroom studio at the Residence Inn in Natick. Results for a search including 2 adults without children yielded options for roughly the same price. Changing the search to "Waltham" rather than Wellesley yielded slightly better results. AirBnB has some properties near Wellesley for a bit more reasonable prices (Booking.com also finds apartment rentals in the area).

On the flip side to all of this, you may live locally and may have a place that can accommodate a classmate or maybe even a classmate and their family. If you are willing and able to host one or more people during reunion, please email me and I'm happy to start a list of possible hosts. If you're reading this and would like to be connected with a host family, also email me.  Finally, if you're just looking to get a sense of geography when you're searching for your own place to stay, please email me as well and I'm happy to help.
