3:00 PM EDT - Start with Art. Time Warp: The Hours of Jeanne d'Evreux, Queen of France.

Classmate Barbara Drake Boehm, Curator Emerita of the Department of Medieval Art and The Cloisters, will share her perspective on the timeless resonance of this medieval masterpiece, over which she was privileged to preside as a senior curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Barbara will trace her own responses to the manuscript as they evolved over decades of research, informed and inflected by her education at Wellesley. Classmates, too, may find themselves unexpectedly awed by a queen of France whose reign ended nearly 800 years ago. 

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Barbara knew as a child that she wanted to be an art historian. After graduating from Wellesley, where she majored in history and art history, Barbara received her M.A. and Ph.D. from NYU's Institute of Fine Arts. An internationally renowned art historian, Barbara curated multiple exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art prior to her recent retirement. Among her many awards, she was elected an honored foreign member of the Societe Nationale des Antiquaires de France in 2003. She is the only American curator of this generation to have received this recognition.

7:00 PM EDT - Drink it In and Talk it Up: Mixology Class 

Following opening remarks and a short video created by Reunion co-chair Barbara Cray, we will attend a mixology class led by Naomi Levy of Beyond the Mixing Glass. Naomi entered the restaurant industry at age 17 and quickly made a name for herself. A world-renowned bartender and bar manager, Naomi has won numerous awards, including being named a 40 Under 40 Tastemaker by Wine Enthusiast in 2019 and Boston's Best Bartender by Boston Magazine. 

Naomi will teach us to create three cocktails, including a signature red Class of 1976 drink. At least one drink can be made with or without alcohol. Naomi will provide a list of ingredients prior to our class. This is a paid event (Cost $10). Registration is required.

Hear how flexible financial assistance from the Wellesley Students’ Aid Society (WSAS) helps put a Wellesley education in reach for students from all walks of life. WSAS provides more than $1.5 million each year in tuition and other aid for Wellesley students.

3:00 PM EDT - Four Allegories: Tools for Naming Racism and Moving to Action. 

Presentation by classmate Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD

Following her graduation from Wellesley, where she majored in molecular biology, Camara was a 1976-1977 Luce Scholar in the Philippines and then earned her M.D. at the Stanford University School of Medicine. After completing her General Preventive Medicine Residency at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health (earning her MPH in the process) and her Family Medicine Residency at the Montefiore Medical Center, she returned to Johns Hopkins to earn her PhD in Epidemiology.

Camara's work focuses on naming, measuring, and addressing the impacts of racism on the health and well-bring of the nation and the world. She is a Past President of the American Public Health Association (2016) and was the 2019-2020 Evelyn Green Davis Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. She has served on the faculty of the Harvard School of Public Health, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Rollins School of Public Health and as a medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Camara has received numerous awards recognizing her extraordinary work and thought leadership, including the Wellesley Alumnae Achievement Award (2018). 

Camara will share four of her allegories on "race" and racism that illuminate topics that are otherwise difficult for many Americans to understand or discuss. Recognizing that racism saps the strength of the whole society through the waste of human resources, she aims to mobilize and engage all Americans in a National Campaign Against Racism.

8:30 PM EDT - Laugh Your Head Off then Dance Your *** Off.  

First, comedian Wendy Liebman, Wellesley '83, will entertain us. A New York native, Wendy majored in psychology at Wellesley. She has appeared on numerous television shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, and The Larry Sanders Show. Wendy also starred in a Showtime special, "Wendy Liebman: Taller on TV." Following Wendy's performance, we will dance to a live performance by the Stephanie Teel Band. Stephanie is a multi-talented musician who plays electric and acoustic guitar as well as the flute. She is a dynamic lead vocalist who puts her rich, soulful voice into every song. Stephanie and her band will play favorite songs from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. This is a paid event (Cost $35). Registration is required.

The meeting will include the installation of new class officers and a memorial led by Margaret Rose during which we will recognize classmates who have passed away since our last Reunion. President Paula A. Johnson will join us to begin the meeting.

1:00 PM EDT - Zumba Class to get you moving! 

Our instructor leads us in a Zumba class as we dance to the music of our college years. This is a paid event (Cost $5). Registration is required. 

3:00 PM EDT - Wellesley Class of '76 Cooks! 

Norina Moskowitz Sfeir prepares several North African/Middle Eastern salads and dips, and Paula Penn-Nabrit demonstrates how to make her homemade noodles and shares her recipe for her famous lasagna.

7:00 PM EDT - Paint a Wellesley Masterpiece Paint Party 

An instructor from Pinot's Palette will lead a paint party during which each of us will paint a custom Wellesley scene. All necessary art supplies will be shipped to you at the address given on the registration form. This is a paid event (Cost $50). You must register for this event by May 13, 2021, to ensure delivery of the art supplies.
