Day to Make a Difference: A Conversation about Service

Non Ministrari sed Ministrare. “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister"

Wellesley's motto encapsulating its dedication to service and cultivating leadership was first introduced to us as Wellesley students. As alums, we strive to advance this mission in our lives.

Join five alums in an informal conversation around how we give to service, to causes and issues in which we are invested, and the strengths and pitfalls of various opportunities. This gathering will encourage all of us to incorporate service into our lives, gain ideas or motivation, and continue to advance the Wellesley motto.

In the spirit of this event and the Wellesley Motto, the Club has created a Service Award (£500) for juniors studying abroad in the UK. This award will support service and volunteer projects that require monetary support. The club is seeking alum patrons for this award. More details will be discussed at the event, but please email Lauren Hurwitz (LaurenRHurwitz@gmail.com) if interested in sponsoring the award next year.

Our speakers are:

  • Carrie Coombs '81 (Trustee, The ExPat Foundation)
  • Martha Jennings '80 (Non-profit and private sector business development professional)
  • Anna Moses '13 (United World College)
  • Jennifer Schwalbenberg '04 (Membership Committee member, The Steam Tug Portwey Trust)
  • Kate Tadman-Mourby '89 (Oxford Food Bank)

This event is FREE for alums and juniors. Guests are welcome at £10.

The evening will run as follows:

6:30 - 6:45: Registration and networking

6:45 - 7:30: Panel discussion and q&a

7:30 - 8:30: Socializing and networking
