We look forward to seeing you on February 20th!
A U.S. citizen or resident alien is annually required to report worldwide income, subject to certain thresholds, by filing a tax return. Individual income tax returns for calendar year 2022 are due April 18th for filers living in the U.S. However, filers who live overseas have an automatic extension to June 15th to file their returns. Please note that this two-month grace period does not apply to the payment of any tax that is due. If you qualify for the automatic extension to file, but you anticipate owing tax, you must make your payment by April 15th. Payments not received by April 18th will be subject to interest during the two-month grace period for filing. Payments made after the June 15th filing deadline may also incur penalties.

Our speakers
Matthew Edwards, Associate Director, Everfair Tax
Matthew has been advising clients with connections to the US since the late 1990s. Primarily focused on providing integrated UK and US tax advice to US nationals and “greencard” holders living in the UK, he has also spent time providing guidance to entrepreneurs and SMEs looking to expand their business activities across the Atlantic.
Over the course of his career, Matthew has worked at Frank Hirth and Ernst & Young, as well as in smaller boutique tax advisory firms. Most recently, prior to joining Everfair, he spent several of years at Satis Asset Management where he was integral in developing their UK/US private client tax practice as well as providing tax guidance and support to their team of wealth managers and financial planners.
Outside of the office, Matthew was once a keen hockey player, though now largely ‘retired’. He enjoys traveling and trying to develop his admittedly very amateur culinary skills.
Nathan Prior, Head of International, Partners Wealth Management
Partners Wealth Management is an award winning independent financial advisory practice based in London in the UK. Nathan joined the partnership in 2015 having previously worked at Merrill Lynch and Julius Baer, where he advised on investments for US taxpayers living in the UK. Nathan now heads the PWM International service and personally overseas financial planning and investment advice for our US connected clients. As an independent advice practice we are not tied to any one investment solution and so are able to freely advise clients on what the right solution is for them. Whether you are just starting to invest or if you have highly bespoke requirements and assets in both the US and the UK, we are able to advise on tax efficient investment solutions that will help you meet your objectives.
I work closely with my clients to help them achieve their lifestyle and financial objectives, giving them peace of mind, even when the markets are challenging.
Kat Smilewicz, Partner, Partners Wealth Management
Having graduated from Warsaw School of Economics, I worked for Investors, one of the most successful private hedge funds in Poland at the time. I enjoyed my time in hedge funds but realised I needed a career that would utilise not only my mathematical skills but also my passion for people and understanding the psychology of decision making. Moving to financial planning is just a perfect combination of these diverse worlds. I had a fantastic time at Bestinvest and then Tilney where I finalised my financial planning qualifications and obtained Chartered status. Working on a client’s financial plan gives me great pleasure as I know the advice we provide has a palpable influence on their future and the way they live their lives.
I had been involved with EU clients financial planning whilst at Tilney and joined Nathan on the US side over a year ago when I moved to Partners. I have really enjoyed broadening my expertise and delving into the complexities of planning and investing for UK resident US citizens.
I am also a keen supporter of sustainability. We need to be aware of all that is around us and promote funds that have a positive impact on us and our planet. Whilst your financial health is of paramount importance to me, I feel it is a great privilege to be able to achieve this by positively influencing the world around us even if it is to a small extent. We are very much in tune in this area with Partners Wealth Management. The firm’s outstanding client service and culture of respect and flexibility also attracted me to the firm.
