We are also excited to announce that Councilmember David Ryu will be the keynote speaker of the Lunar New Year celebration dinner that the Wellesley Club of Los Angeles has traditionally hosted with the Harvard Club of Southern California. On July 1st, 2015 David Ryu became the first Korean American to serve on the Los Angeles City Council and only the second Asian American. Councilmember Ryu represents the 4th Council District, which includes the neighborhoods of Sherman Oaks, Toluca Lake, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Miracle Mile, Hancock Park, Windsor Square, Larchmont and a portion of Koreatown. Ryu draws on an extensive background in public policy to address the City's myriad challenges in public health, housing, transportation, children and family services, and the needs of seniors.
