Sheilah Shaw Horton
Vice President and Dean of Students, Wellesley College
Sheilah Shaw Horton is vice president and dean of students at Wellesley College. She began this role in 2017. At Wellesley she oversees a division of 10 different departments, spanning such areas as residential life and housing, counseling, health, wellness, academic advising, intercultural education, services for students with disabilities, and other student support areas. Prior to Wellesley, she was VP of Student Affairs at Loyola University of Maryland and at Boston College where she served in several roles, including associate vice president of student affairs and dean of students. Dr. Horton knows student life from many vantage points as she has taught undergraduate and graduate students, is a trustee of her alma mater, Emmanuel College, and is herself the parent of recent college graduates. She holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Boston College.
Kathryn Harvey Mackintosh '03
Wellesley College Alumnae Association
Kathryn Harvey Mackintosh '03 returned to Wellesley as Executive Director of the Wellesley College Alumnae Association in the summer of 2019. Her career in higher education has included roles in development, graduate admissions, and employer partnerships. Most recently she was the Director of Institutional Research at Boston College, where she led a cross-functional team to support university decision-making through survey research and data analysis. She has extensive experience working with campus partners in enrollment management, career services, academic units and student life. Kathryn serves on the board of a local independent Catholic school and a grant review committee for the Needham Education Foundation. She was a political science major at Wellesley and received her M.B.A. from Boston College. Kathryn enjoys running (slowly), cooking (quickly), and reading both to herself and to her three young children.
Mary Casey
Vice President of Development, Wellesley College
Mary M. Casey is Vice President for Development at Wellesley and is also a member of the President’s Leadership Team, working to advance institutional priorities and initiatives. For 21 years, Casey held progressively responsible positions in the Office of College Advancement at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, including eight years as vice president for college advancement. She has been the campaign director for Boston Children’s Hospital for the past four years. Casey is a magna cum laude graduate of Mount Holyoke College and earned her master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Additionally, Casey has been a longtime volunteer for Mount Holyoke College, serving as both a class gift agent and a member of the Alumnae Association board. She is a member of the Corporation for the Perkins School for the Blind and she serves on the Family Support Council for the Department of Developmental Services for the state of Massachusetts. Both organizations are deeply important to Casey, she says, because they advocate for people who often have no powerful lobby to represent them.
Event Host: Amy Sommer Childress '87
Amy Sommer ’87 is overeducated and underemployed. After two decades in the entertainment industry-- in jobs ranging from Povich’s Peon to Oscar nominated documentary film producer – she turned her focus to penning prose and parenting. In the decade (or so… is counting really necessary after 40… or 50…) since she has written several screenplays – a couple for hire, an in-development romantic comedy co-authored with Alexandra Komisaruk ’86 – served as an editor for long since defunct magazines. Currently, she writes for a fashion blog, So Suzy Says - set to relaunch in April 2020 - and shares her navel gazing revelations on her blog, FretforHire.com . When not tethered to her laptop she pays minimal attention to her three children, two dogs and one spouse while generally trying to make herself useful.

Event Introductions by Lori Dreischmeier, '86
President, Wellesley Club of Los Angeles
Lori Dreischmeier ‘86 graduated from Wellesley College with a BA in English (including a year of study in Paris) and has an MFA in film from USC. She has incorporated her love for innovation and storytelling into her work as a senior executive assistant to entrepreneurs and CEOs in the tech and media industries. She is presently looking for new opportunities as well as beginning to create her own vlog where she can discuss her favorite subjects: entrepreneurship, faith, health, beauty, and relationships.
Lori began serving as WCLA Co-President at the beginning of 2017 and became President in 2019. She previously served as the Vice President in 2003-2004 and as the Wellesley Class of 1986 Reunion Record Book Chair in 2010-2011. Her Wellesley community has been essential to establishing her home in LA; she is committed to encouraging connections between SoCal alumnae as well as between alumnae and the College, particularly in the areas of career, and transitions. A Midwestern native (born and raised in Wisconsin), Lori loves living in Santa Monica. In her free time, when she’s not at a Wellesley event, she enjoys Bar Method class, tennis, farmer's markets, and events (film, music, and sports).
