About Hilary Norton '90, guest speaker
Hilary Norton is the Chairwoman of the California Transportation Commission (CTC). Hilary was appointed to the CTC by Governor Gavin Newsom in September 2019, and elected Chair of the CTC in August 2020. She brings over 29 years of experience in transportation and community development to her Commission role. Ms. Norton’s primary goals as CTC Chair include investing over $5 billion in annual SB1 gas tax and other funds into California’s transportation infrastructure system in order to improve outcomes in equity, mobility across numerous modes, safety, environment/climate change resilience, and economic growth.
Ms. Norton is President and Managing Partner of Effect Strategies, a full-service strategic communications firm, with clients ranging from biotech/life sciences to innovations in service delivery, clean buildings, and mobility.
Ms. Norton was named one of Stratiscope’s 2021 “Impact Makers to Watch”
Ms. Norton holds a BA from Wellesley College and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is the mother of two adults, Xavier and Eva Orozco.
