Shared Interest Groups (SIGS)

Shared Interest Groups give alumnae the opportunity to connect with each other and the College based on a common activity, purpose, background, or interest. WCLA's SIGs include:

Wellesley in Entertainment (WIE)

Wellesley in Entertainment, a subgroup of the WCLA, was formed in the spring of 2016 to promote a sense of solidarity among Wellesley alumnae working in film, television, media, and the arts. We aim to build the WIE community through various events: social hours, networking opportunities, creative and business panels, a screenwriting competition for graduating seniors, and consistent communication with both the College's academic departments and the Career Education office. We hope not only to connect graduates to each other but also to provide students with a supportive, collaborative, professional community immediately upon graduation.

Previous events have included:
  • Nikki Finke In Conversation With Wendy Liebman
  • The Business of Making Film and TV: A Panel Discussion
  • Seven Sisters In Entertainment Speed Networking
  • Forging A Career In The Visual Arts: A Panel Discussion
  • In Conversation: Holly Goldberg Sloan and Amy Holden Jones
Previous winners of the annual screenwriting competition are:
  • Ciara Wardlow '19
  • Taylor Gunderson '18
  • Camille Bond '17

Wellesley Latina Alumnae Network (WLAN)

WLAN strives to strengthen the connection of alumnae of Latina/Hispanic descent to each other, to the College, and to current as well as prospective students. WLAN complements the missions of Wellesley College and the Wellesley College Alumnae Association (WCAA) through three strategic priorities:
(1) Admission and Recruitment - increase the number of prospective and incoming Latina students;
(2) College Connection - partner with the College to optimize efforts;
(3) Alumnae Community - increase the visibility of WLAN members and build a pipeline of leaders.

WCLA Group for Career and Life Transitions

A small group of Wellesley alumnae in the '80s classes have been gathering bimonthly at a wine bar in Beverly Hills to catch up and share ideas about new directions--planned and unplanned. Many of us are wanting or needing to try something new--a new job or a new life challenge--and haven't entirely figured it out yet. Join us to brainstorm, reconnect, and be energized by your Wellesley sisterhood. If you would like to be added to the email list, please send a note to:
