What is the Club's contact information?
The best way to reach the NYWC is to send an email to: WCNewYork@wellesley.edu. Please include your full name and class with your query.
What are the benefits of joining the New York Wellesley Club?
Membership dues play an important role in supporting the NYWC. Membership dues help support the cost of events that build a stronger community among alumnae in New York City. Membership also supports admissions events and the Book Award Program, which helps promising high school students in the NYC area learn about Wellesley.
Dues-paying members receive reduced-price admission to many events organized by the NYWC. Members also have exclusive access to our membership directory. Members also have access to special members-only events, such as our annual wine-and-cheese tasting, which is free for members.
How do I join the Club or renew my membership?
To join or renew your membership, please visit the membership section of our new web site, available here.
Does the Club own a building or space in New York City?
The NYWC does not own a building or space. However, we do have a relationship with the Williams Club, now located at the Princeton Club, that enables Wellesley Alumnae to join the Williams Club. Please refer to the relevant section of our old homepage for Williams Club contact details.
How do I find out about what's happening with the NYWC?
The NYWC sends e-mail blasts about events and other initiatives organized by the Club, and by special interest groups like WAAD, W3A, WLAN, and Friends of Art. These e-mails are sent on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. We also post event information on this web site and send a digital e-newsletter twice a year. To receive this information, please make sure your contact information is up-to-date with Wellesley College. Instructions for updating your information are available here.
The NYWC events look great! How can I sign up?
Registration for Club events takes place online on this web site. The Club has created a detailed "how to" guide for online event registration. To view this guide, click here.
Can the Club include information about my event in its next email?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests we receive, the NYWC cannot publicize events that are not organized by the Club, or by another officialy Wellesley College special interest group, such as Friends of Art, WLAN, WAAD, or W3A. Information about informal gatherings, alumnae concerts, book readings, art shows, and other events of interest are often posted on the Club Facebook page.
What is your refund policy for events?
The NYWC is happy to give refunds for events that the Club cancels or reschedules due to extenuating circumstances. We regret that we are unable to offer refunds in other situations. In such situations, however, we are often able to consider unused event payments tax-deductible donations and are happy to provide the required documentation.
I would like to go to a NYWC event, but cannot afford the registration fee. Can I still attend?
The NYWC makes every endeavor to keep event fees low, to ensure that the maximum number of alums can participate. Each year, we have limited funds available in our budget to subsidize event fees for alums who could not otherwise afford to attend. Funds are dispersed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to request a subsidized event fee, please email WCNewYork@alum.wellesley.edu.
What happened to the print newsletter?
The NYWC sends an annual print newsletter to alumnae who do not have email addresses registered with the College. It contains the same event information that the Club includes in its bi-monthly event e-mail blasts and some of the information from our new digital newsletter. Receipt of our digital newsletter is dependent upon the accuracy of alumnae contact information in the College's database. Please make sure the College has your current information by following the steps in the "Moving" section of our old homepage.
Does the Club assist current students and alumnae with finding and subletting apartments?
The NYWC suggests that current students and alumnae use the Club Facebook page for apartment-related messages. Alumnae may also use the Discussion Groups feature on this new web site.
How does one get involved with the New York Wellesley Club?
The NYWC is always looking for volunteers. There are many ways to help -- from volunteering at an event, to helping at a college fair, to joining a committee, or joining the board. If you're interested in getting involved, please visit our Volunteer portal to sign up. A member of the NYWC board will contact you when an appropriate opportunity arises.
