Join fellow members of Wellesley-in-Pasadena for an afternoon at the Huntington Library & Gardens, where we will hear a panel discussion with the artists. We will meet outside Rotherberg Hall at the circular patio near the entrance, where we will then enter the hall for the 2 pm panel. Parking is free on site, or you can take the Metro Gold Line to the Allen stop and Lyft/Uber 1 mile south to the Huntington north entrance.
The artist talk will be with Soyoung Shin and Juliana Wisdom. They will be discussing the influence of French history on their new work. Shin’s project, “Picture Elements,” focuses on the 18th-century carpets and tapestries commissioned by King Louis XIV for the Grand Gallery of the Lourve, and explors the ways in which the textile craft overlaps with modern computing. Wisdom is developing new work in response the the Huntington’s 18th-century French porcelain collection. Wisdom has created sculptures that seek to broaden the historical narrative of sculpture production by including the often-anonymous women who served as both makers and benefactors.
After the talk, for those who would like to mingle afterwards, we will be heading to the café to discuss the panel talk. The panel discussion is free, but the exhibit requires paying an entrance fee.
