WIP Book Club: Cod, A Biography

March 21, 2019, 7:30pm

Mark Kurlansky's third work of nonfiction and winner of the 1999 James Beard Award, Cod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World, can be classified as a world history with this fish as its main character.  In this thoughtful history, we are invited to ponder the questions: Is the fish that changed the world forever changed by the world's folly?

This event will be at the home of Jennifer Gray.  Remember to mention the Wellesley-in-Pasadena book club at Vroman's when purchasing your book in order to receive a 20% discount.

  • Man wants to see nature and evolution as separate from human activities.  There is the natural world, and there is man.  But man also belongs to the natural world.  If he is a ferocious predator, that too is a part of evolution.
