Are you a parent or caregiver of a toddler, adolescent or adult? Are you a devoted auntie or expecting or adopting a child? Or wondering how your own parent’s parenting style may be seen through the lens of their formative years?

Parenting or caring for a young person often activates our own thoughts and feelings about our identity, values and family of origin. Modern Day parenting is challenging and often pushes us to grow and evolve as an individual. As an AAPI parent, we often grapple with our own sense of ethnic or racial identity, migration history or our sense of belonging and acculturation.

Parenting, when accompanied with reflection and intention, presents an opportunity for honoring and re-imagining our family.

This is Part 2 of a two part special series for W3A, that will address:

  • Too Asian or Too Mainstream? What do we pass on to our children from our heritage?
  • Understanding generational differences between first, second and third generations of AANHPI
  • Characteristics of millennials, Gen Z and Alpha and how they influence our parenting.
  • Mental health: caring our children and caring for ourselves
  • Parenting as a growth-promoting and reflective journey

We encourage everyone to attend this insightful program specially designed for W3A. Facilitated by Dr. Julie Lee '91, who is the mental health advisor to W3A. She is a clinical psychologist, NYC faculty and consultant who has published in Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Thrive Global and Today's Parenting. She is a sought-out speaker and has been featured in Washington Post, Business Insider and Boston Globe Summit and Harvard Alumni Day.
