Join the Wellesley Jewish Alumnae Association for a thought provoking discussion

Professor Josh Lambert, Director of Wellesley Jewish Studies, will discuss his new book, The Literary Mafia: Jews, Publishing, and Postwar American Literature.  Professor Lambert will be joined by a panel of Wellesley alums working in the publishing industry to discuss issues such as the lack of diversity in the publishing industry, the problems of misogyny and racism in the industry, and the ideas of "merit" and "objectivity" in culture.

Moderator: Jordan Namerow '05 (children's book author and writer)

Jordan graduated from Wellesley College with a major in Sociology and Women's Studies.  She defines herself as a feminist writer, strategic communications professional, and facilitator. Much of her work centers on helping women, girls, and LGBTQ people elevate their voices and claim their power to make the world more equitable for everyone. Professor Josh Lambert

Josh Lambert is the Sophia Moses Robison Associate Professor of Jewish Studies and English, and Director of the Jewish Studies Program at Wellesley College. He is the author of Unclean Lips: Obscenity, Jews, and American Culture (2014), and The Literary Mafia: Jews, Publishing, and Postwar American Literature (2022). 

Yona Levin '18, (agent, Fletcher & Co.)

Yona graduated from Wellesley College majoring in Political Science. She now works at the publisher Fletcher & Company in New York City, focusing on foreign rights and assists Peter Steinberg with his titles. Yona is also building her own list of children’s books, including young adult and middle grade fiction and non-fiction. She likes contemporary adventure stories, fantasy that is off the beaten path, and clever writing that plays with format and reader expectations in new and interesting ways.

Maya Marlette '16 (editor, Scholastic Press) 

Maya graduated from Wellesley College in 2016 after majoring in English and minoring in Astronomy. She is an Editor at Scholastic and aims to publish middle grade and young adult novels that depict characters from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds having joyous, triumphant experiences.
