Lecture and Discussion with Josh Lambert; Incoming Director of Wellesley's Jewish Studies Program
Professor Lambert is currently the academic director of the Yiddish Book Center and a visiting assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and has taught also at Princeton and at New York University. His BA is from Harvard, and his MA and doctorate are from the University of Michigan. He is the author of Unclean Lips: Obscenity, Jews, and American Culture, which won a Canadian Jewish Book Award and the Jordan Schnitzer Award from the Association for Jewish Studies, and American Jewish Fiction: A JPS Guide. His reviews and essays have appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Haaretz, the Forward, the Globe and Mail, and many academic journals. He will be starting at Wellesley early next year (2020).
To help welcome him and to give alumnae a chance to get to know him, WJA has invited Josh to give a phone/web lecture to WJA members. He will introduce some of his research and work at the Yiddish Book Center, and his hopes for the future of Jewish Studies at Wellesley. There will be time for Q&A.
