Children's Story Time with the Author!

Join kidlit author and Wellesley alumna Jamie Kiffel-Alcheh (’98) for a live children’s book reading and Q&A!
Jamie will read her board books CAN YOU HEAR A COO, COO? and A HOOPOE SAYS, “OOP!” for the littlest kids, and then her picture book KOL HAKAVOD: WAY TO GO!.  Bring your kids for this wonderful story time, and then stay for an opportunity for kids and parents to ask all their questions about the books, or children's books in general.

More about the books:

KOL HAKAVOD: WAY TO GO! is a rhyming, rhythmic picture book that surrounds the reader with colorful examples of what the Hebrew phrase “kol hakavod!” ("way to go!") means. It highlights seemingly small deeds that almost any preschooler can accomplish without help, and shows that even the littlest good deeds can have a very big impact. And best of all, the illustrations feature families of many ethnicities and abilities.  This book is intended for ages 3-6.

A HOOPOE SAYS "OOP!" is a rhyming board book that introduces Israel’s native animals in their natural habitats, including the ways they move and the sounds they make…and it gives a surprise “translation” of their calls.  This book is intended for ages 0-3.

CAN YOU HEAR A COO, COO? is a stylized, rhyming board book where animal pairs march to a surprise destination...Noah's Ark!  Featuring the work of award-winning illustrator Marc Lumer, the book uses earth tones and subtle textures to prime young palates for art appreciation, while the animal exclamations on each page were developed to invite repetition and syllabic learning—and they are fun to say!  This book is intended for ages 0-3.

More about the author:

Jamie Kiffel-Alcheh (Wellesley class of '98) is the author of multiple award-winning children’s books, a lyricist for ad campaigns and films, and a writer for National Geographic KIDS and National Geographic Family. Thanks to Nat Geo, Jamie is aware of tardigrades, and suspicious of their planetary origin. Her newest titles include Explorer Academy: Future Tech (National Geographic), Nerdlet: Tech (National Geographic), and Ask Again: The Case of the Pot Roast (Green Bean Books, UK).

Some of her recent reads are Marc Brown’s “Arthur” series and the “Age of Prophecy” series by Dave Mason and Mike Feuer.  She couldn't list books she wants to read because if she wants to read it, she's already reading it!
